The first training session for volunteers was last week and everybody did very well getting the hang of the rickshaw’s steering, and using the electric motor.
PC Paul Fox and PCSO Emily Howell came along to say hello and answer any questions (and in Emily’s case have a ride) , which was great.
The rickshaw is easier to ride than most of us expected. Everyone had a go at being a passenger, and it was surprising how fast even 10kph feels. So, as promised, we will be travelling slowly when the rides start in earnest!
However, it’s not so easy getting the rickshaw and two passengers uphill, volunteers found when they attempted the Ramp Challenge – getting to the raised car park at Bury Rugby Club. Most people couldn’t do it. More practice required!
