We offer free, chatty rides to local people who need a bit of help getting out and about.
Our rickshaw is a specially adapted tricycle that carries two passengers at the front, giving them an opportunity to take in the sights and sounds of Bury, and to enjoy the fresh air and interaction with others – the rider, and passers-by. Our riders are volunteers, and the rickshaw has a battery-powered motor to assist with the pedalling.
Passengers are picked up from their home and taken for a slow and chatty tour of the town.
We also do free deliveries for local charities, such as the Best Before Project, Bury Drop In, Gatehouse Foodbank , Tayfen House and the Women’s Refuge. We deliver donations to charity shops from anywhere in the town for people who can’t get the items there themselves.
During the coronavirus pandemic we have been busy delivering prescriptions and essential supplies to self-isolators. Passenger rides were suspended during lockdown but have now re-started. We have made some adaptions to the rickshaw and our protocols to make the rides as safe as possible.
