Bury St Edmunds Rickshaw provides free rides thanks to its dedicated team of volunteers. Most volunteers do one 2-3 hour shift a week. If you would like to join us, we’d love to hear from you. Most of our volunteers ride our cargo bike or rickshaw, but we would welcome offers of general help if cycling is not your thing. Full training is given.

Due to the coronavirus we are busy delivering prescriptions and essential supplies to self-isolators. This service now runs on Tuesdays and Fridays, but our cargo work has expanded – we collect unsold food from various stores for Still Good Food and homelessness rpojects in the town. We would welcome new volunteers who can use their own bike or have a bike trailer or cargo bike they could use for deliveries.

For more information, see the ‘Role and responsibilities of BSE Rickshaw riders‘ for riders who take passengers, and the volunteer cargo rider job description for cargo only riders. Complete the form below and we’ll be in touch.

Volunteer receptionists deal with calls in our virtual Control Room and send the jobs out to riders. It’s all computer based, so receptionists (we also call them Controllers) work from home. Full training and support given. Complete the application form below if you would like to apply for this role.
