We are lucky to have Revel Outdoors to look after us. Unfortunately the rickshaw won’t fit into their workshop though, so Michael and Sarah had to work on it on the pavement when we had a problem with skipping gears today.

Volunteer training evening
This evening our volunteers got together for a training session where we shared our tips and experiences so far. Lots to discuss!
We were delighted to give St Edmundsbury Mayor Cllr Margaret Marks and her assistant a lift from the Abbey Gate (pictured) to Christ Church at Moreton Hall today, for their seniors’ coffee club. Volunteer rider Anne did the honours.
Nowton Court coffee morning
Volunteer rider John took the rickshaw to Nowton Court Village today for Clarke Care’s Get Together Tuesday coffee morning, and found plenty of happy passengers to take for a spin.
Women on Wheels event
Volunteer rider Louise was on hand at Nowton Park to greet cyclists completing their rides in the Bury St Edmunds Women on Wheels event today.
Women On Wheels events are mass participation female-only bike rides around Suffolk, that put a strong focus on the fun, friendly and inclusive aspects of cycling, usually raising money for a local charity – St Nicholas Hospice in Bury’s case.
They are aimed at non-cyclists and existing cyclists alike, with routes of an achievable distance, and are open to all ages.
Everybody loves the sunshine!
Suffolk Day at Riverwalk School
We had a great time at Riverwalk School today, taking the children for rides around the playing field.
North Court Care Home rides
Volunteer rider Dan took the rickshaw to North Court Care home today for a demo – and the staff and residents loved it!
We’ll be there every Friday afternoon for the rest of the summer 🙂
The rickshaw was on hand for Hidden Gardens, when visitors were able to view around 30 beautiful gardens, big and small, which are usually hidden from view, in aid of the Hospice.
The event raised nearly £20k for the Hospice, whose Community Fundraiser Miranda McCoy said:
“A huge THANK YOU! for your brilliant help with the rickshaw at the Hidden Gardens of Bury – it was a big hit with all the visitors on the day. Your support of the Hospice and those in our care is truly appreciated.”
Bury St Edmunds Rickshaw Launch
Bury St Edmunds Rickshaw was launched last week in the Abbey Gardens, when we gave rides to the public on Saturday and Sunday (9th and 10th June) – and everyone loved it!
Bury Free Press and East Anglian Daily Times wrote about us, and the BBC made this little film starring David from the Dementia Hub.
Here are some pictures from the weekend.
